Downe came desire from heaven this other daye

Downe came desire from heaven this other daye
and here belowe hee romed rounde aboute
With bowe unbent, none myndinge then to slea
his errant was to seeke his Mother oute
But he poore Boye out off his way was farr
for Shee was toyinge with the god of warr

And as he thus went wandringe to and fro
att lenth by happ my mistres hee espyde
Downe at her feete he threwe both shafte and bowe
and layes hym softelye by her Comelye syde
Wherewith for feare, She starte as one afrighte
and thereby shewde shee was a mortall wighte

The blynded Boy then fownde itt was nott Shee
for whom he soughte althoughe not much unlike
And sayde to her faire Ladye pardon mee
yff that therein my sences were to seeke
for your owne Servaunt that hath eyes to see
hath often thought yow, Venus peare to bee
Butt yf my Mistres hadd byne of this mynde
to lull hym softelye in her lapp asleepe
Shee might have handled Cupide in his kinde
and gyven to me his bowe and shafts to keepe
Then mistresse myne in token I am true
I had bestowed the golden shafte on yow.
