Elegy on — — , Esq.

H ERE lies an olio of ragouts,
Of collops, fricassees, and stews;
Of Norfolk turkeys, German ham,
And steaks from the domestic lamb;
Of turtle fat, of Bristol dories,
(No questions ask'd on Whigs or Tories);
Of soupe la reine , and fricandeaux ,
Of summer bucks, and winter does;
Of all that pays the knife and fork;
Of claret that eludes the cork,
Of Burgundy, Champaigne , and Cape .
Yours, oh ye worms, is now the rape!
Nor spare the exquisite liqueurs;
For they , with ********, are yours!
The good make life a constant feast;
And **** was this GOOD man at least.
