Epitaph on a Parrot that Betty the Servant threw down the Necessary-house

Beneath lies in-t-d ,
The remains of a bird ,
Who submits to all conqu'ring fate,
Whose master took care
To teach him to swear ,
As his mistress had taught him to prate .

If complaint should be made,
On the place where he's laid,
Poor Betty was only in fault;
For Betty, to save
The expence of a grave ,
Thought proper to chuse him a vault .
To adorn his said tomb ,
For ages to come,
His mistress , still kinder and kinder,
Declares with a tear,
She will never go there,
But she'll always leave something behind her.
