In the moonlit garden paulownia leaves fall;
In the frost, wild chrysanthemums wither.
The tower is tall as the sky,
Drunk, we keep on draining our cups.
Flowing water is cold as the lute;
Plum fragrance seeps into my flute.
Tomorrow, after we have parted,
Our love will be green waves unending.
