From lofty sell the stranger knight descends,
And many 'squires and pages round him wait;
By those conducted to the hall he wends,
Where old Belgardo sate in princely state,
Who rose from couch to do him court'sy great,
And him saluted in most lovely guise;
Heap'd was the table with most dainty meat,
Such as shrewd cook could by his art devise,
And the clear crystal vase with purple, Bacchus dyer.
