Going to the Ministry with Chao Tzu-ch'i

The sun comes up, wind starts to ripple
the waters of T'ai-i Pond.
Below carved bridges, a thousand feet long,
a painted barge floats by.
Beside the bridges, the willow trees
are deeper in their green:
perhaps they have been favored
with an extra wash of dew.
