He Gave Himself for Me

While standing on the brink of woe,
I saw Mount Calvary,
Where Jesus full atonement made;
He gave Himself for me.

His dying there my debt has paid —
Forever sets me free,
From all the guilt of Adam's race.
He gave Himself for me.

And gazing on that wondrous scene —
My sins nailed to the tree,
Could scarce believe the sight I saw,
He gave Himself for me.

When I am safe on heaven's shore,
My portion there will be,
To sing throughout eternal years,
He gave Himself for me.
