Honey-Sweet

(to Helen)

Twenty years ago to-day,
In the fragrant month of roses,
A little baby girl came our way,
To prove the love that God discloses;
Precious gift! from head to feet,
And we called her " Honey-sweet. "

Now on this, her natal day,
In the lovely month of June,
With enduring love we say —
" That we find our hearts in tune
To the song of joy, replete
With our love for " Honey-sweet." "

And through all her golden youth,
She has been our dearest treasure;
Brought to us in very truth,
Years of unalloyed pleasure;
O, Life could not be complete
Had we not our " Honey-sweet. "

Best of all, O " Honey-sweet, "
To the Master you've been true,
You can never know defeat,
For He watches over you,
And, with Him, we now repeat —
" How we love you, " Honey-sweet." "
