I Have Been a Foster

I have been a foster long and many day,
My locks ben hoar.
I shall hang up my horn by the greenwood spray.
Foster will I be no more.

All the whiles that I may my bow bend
Shall I wed no wife.
I shall bigg me a bower at the wood's end,
There to lead my life.
