If Winter Comes

Eternal question with its answering aye,
 Expectant query with recurrent nod,
The yes that thirsty souls seek after when they cry,
 “Is life worth living?” and “Is there a God?”

The yearning heart asks in insistent tone,
 And ceaseless questions, too, the human mind;
Kind Nature answers, “Trust the unknown for the known;
 ‘If winter comes, can spring be far behind?’”
