Irony

There spake a man in days of old:
“I will believe that God can be
As kind and just as we are told
If he will throw down here to me
A bag of gold.”

But when his wife rose from her bed
To see what kept her man away,
She found him with a broken head,
And on the ground beside him lay
A bag of lead.
