I've sailed to the east and I've sailed to the west

I've sailed to the east and I've sailed to the west,
They call me Sailor Bill;
I have come for to seek my own blood kin
That settled in the hills.

I found them in a valley deep,
With fertile hills around;
Beside a fair craft-worthy stream,
Where fish and game abound.

They had traveled far from England's shore,
To build their future home;
To Fairfax county first they came,
When they set out to roam.

But when I sought to find them there,
Alas, I sought in vain.
They had crossed the rugged mountain high,
This virgin soil to claim.

I've sailed the seas from coast to coast,
And weathered many a gale,
I've pilfered goods from pirate ships
Upon the Spanish main.

I've gathered gifts from many lands,
For I've traveled far and wide;
I settled down with my Preston kin,
In their home by the river side.
