January

Christ was born on Christmas Day;
In a beast his manger lay;
Smiled His mother Maria;
Angels singeth: Gloria
In Excelsis Deo.

In a beast his crib He lay;
Whiles His mother made Him gay,
Wrapped the Babe in taffeta
Angels singeth: Gloria
In Excelsis Deo.

When he saw the Blessed Boy,
Laughed the ass for holy joy,
Stretched his neck and said He-ha.
Angels singeth: Gloria
In Excelsis Deo.

" Bow no more to stones and stocks;
" Hail the Godhead, " (quote the ox.)
" Ay! " (quote mother Maria).
Angels singeth: Gloria
In Excelsis Deo.

Lowly knelt the ancient kings.
" Here be divers goodly things
" For thy Son, o Maria. "
Angels singeth: Gloria
In Excelsis Deo.
