I can see it in her face
though whe may try to hide it,
She's suffering all the time, I know.
Such pain, could I not ease it?

A lasting, aching pain it is,
Makes her feel so tired,
Thumping, jumping in every joint
Rheumatoid arthritis.

Oh, but she has patience
How can she bear this pain?
She trusts in God and prays
for help to take the strain.

I wrote this poem about my mother-in-law while she was suffering. She died in 1969, aged only 60 years. May she rest in Peace.
