Joy to the World

Joy, great joy, was the message
Told to shepherds in the field.
An angel brought the tidings,
The good news from heav'n revealed.
In haste they sped to find Him,
Born a Babe, before Him kneeled.
They knew He was the Saviour.
He was God in flesh concealed.
To all the heartsick, sad ones
In this whole wide world today.
To the worn and weary pilgrims
Filled with fear, distrust, dismay,
Our Christ sounds the same message
As the angels did that day.
On Calv'ry's cross He suffered
To bring joy to all for aye.

The world is filled with sorrow
Caused by unbelief and sin,
Rejection of this Saviour
Who alone can cleanse within.
Some day He'll smite the nations,
Too late then His grace to win.
It's now He offers pardon
And gives joy where grief has been.
