Lord, if thou are not present, where shall I

Seek thee the absent? If thou art everywhere,
How is it that I do not see thee nigh?

Thou dwellest in a light remote and fair.
How can I reach that light, Lord? I beseech
Thee, teach my seeking, and thyself declare

Thyself the sought to me. Unless thou teach
Me, Lord, I cannot seek; nor can I find
Thee, if thou wilt not come within my reach.

Lord, let me seek, with sturdy heart and mind,
In passion of desire and longingly.
Let me desire thee, seeking thee; and find.

Loving thee, find thee; love thee, finding thee.
