On a Summer Day in the South Pavillion Thinking Of My Friend Xin | 夏日 南亭 懷 辛大 |
The light above the mountain suddenly sets to the west | 山光 忽 西落 |
While the moon over the pond gradually rises from the east | 池月 漸 東上 |
I loosen my hair to feel the night’s cool | 散髮 乘 夜涼 |
The balcony is open and I lie in leisure in a wide-open space | 開軒 臥閑 敞 |
In the wind, the water lilies send a fragrant aroma | 荷風 送 香氣 |
The dew of bamboo drips in a peaceful echo | 竹露 滴 清響 |
I long to fetch my lute and play a tune | 欲取 鳴 琴彈 |
And regret the lack of a good friend to appreciate it | 恨無 知音 賞 |
Feeling this, I carry you in my heart, my old friend | 感此 懷 故人 |
And go through the night consoled by the dream | 中宵 勞 夢想 |
