Staying at the Teacher’s Mountain House: Waiting For Ding, Who Hasn’t Arrived | 宿業師山房 待丁大不至 |
The evening sun is setting to the west, along the mountain range | 夕陽 度西嶺 |
And the array of narrow valleys turns abruptly dark | 群壑 倏已暝 |
The moon over the pines gives birth to the cold of night | 松月 生夜涼 |
And the wind and springs are full of peaceful sounds | 風泉 滿清聽 |
The woodcutters have almost all returned | 樵人 歸欲盡 |
And in the mist the birds begin to settle and perch | 煙鳥 棲初定 |
My friend was supposed to come and stay | 之子 期宿來 |
But I play the lute alone and wait by the path along the vines | 孤琴 候蘿徑 |
