A cat and a dog met on top of a hill as the sun began to set
They spoke of their day, laughed, shared a smoke on a quilt
The sun dipped lower with it's fading glow
And the dog began to stand saying "it's time to go"
The cats eyes grew large and she begged him to stay
But the dog said no, "my home awaits"
The cat pleaded for his company
And he in truth wanted to remain
But the night was closing
"we both must away"
The cat frowned and spun a yarn softly with her paws
Giving it to the dog who she called amore
They left, the dog returned home and the cat would roam
Until the next sunset came
The cat was scared
The dog was rabid
He'd been touched by something and couldn't stand it
She tried to help
But he only saw threat
Her eyes thinned like daggers
His teeth barred like tombstones
Her claws drew blood
His teeth broke bone
They fought until the sun died
Until they died
Sinking into the hill as the moon descended
Flowers rose in tandem with the sun
The wind swept by as normal
The hill grew taller
And the sky stayed blue
Bones sank softly through the dirt
Mixing together
Decomposing into one
As more flowers sprung up
Sitting in wait
Were two wandering souls
wondering were their beloved pets had gone
