For eons the urge to reach has smoldered
Infused in the cells of a primordial boulder.
It brought the day they made their way
Out of the water and into the caves.

Sentient beings of a lower form
Broke through vitreous worlds to the newly born,
Only to crawl out and see instead
Another wall above their heads.

A waterless earth had then been exposed
And some of them stayed, but some of them chose
To make their way back into the sea
For it was merely a choice of boundaries.

But look closely now, for this they teach:
The boundaries they see are bound to be breached
Instinctively, they'll cross the line
Once they are ready; it is only a matter of time.
