i saw myself in a mirror today
rarely do i gauge my own reflection
i'm nothing to look at
i don't need to see me
the image was distorted
a crack in the glass
at least that was my presumption
i reached to touch the fissure
only to find smoothness
maybe the glass was dirty
or light and shadow causing
a hazy gnarling of my impression
another walked past the mirror amidst my contemplation
their appearance, perfectly clear
and then the realization
i was the distortion
