Road of Sadness

Your mindless drinking has got to come to an end
Before there are too many broken fences to mend
Every time you put another bottle to your lips
Your life becomes nothing but a sinking ship
But you just continue to drink night after night
Keep on praying you will eventually see the light
All of your many dreams may not come true
Because all you care about is the bottle and you
You are floating down am endless river of lies
I've given up hope and no longer want to try
My friendship can never touch your heart
Another night of drinking and all is torn apart
You're forever lost in an endless pouring rain
Can only witness your hopes go down the drain
Before your dreams all fade and turn to rust
In a higher power you must come to trust
You seem to cry yourself to sleep every night
Do you really think drinking can put things right
Don't you know you are slowly killing yourself
But all you care for is the bottle and nothing else
Do you really want to go down in a torrent of tears
Because you'll never make up for the wasted years
All that I can seem to do is pray for your soul
And give you my friendship till we grow old
Drinking leads to nothing but oceans of blame
Absent drinking you wouldn't feel the shame
You are to blame for the road of sadness you pave
But I will always place flowers upon your grave
