Hair fell first to the floor,
then but to the first bump along her neck -
she smiled at her reflection.
She had been watching some children's Chinese lore,
wondering if the book of Judges had it wrong...
Wondering what her aunt would say.
Hoping what her friends would think...
If they'd ask, she'd sigh: "it simply got too long."
