The Mountain Residence of Secretary Cheng Ching-ssu
When the Secretary gave up his office,
and returned to the mountains,
he brought his entire family to live among the clouds.
In this leisurely life, he raises his sons
to be woodcutters and fishermen;
as he gets older, he depends on monks
to bring him medicine and tea.
Trees from twin cliffs form a thousand layers of green;
the mists of a hundred mountains
create multicolored patterns.
From here, it is not too far to Stone Bridge Temple:
as he sits in his house, he hears the echo of the temple bell.
