Night Robbers

When they realize it's no longer evening,
one rises to his feet
and strangles a chicken,
one rises to his feet
and strangles a pillar,
one rises to his feet
and twists up his own arms.
In response to the depth of night he schemes,
each of the night robbers
will be a night robber.
For example, the one who steps on the back
of a prostrate night robber and runs, is also
called by custom a night robber.
No matter how short
the distance night robbers run through
from beheading to whipping,
the daybreak that seems to be cut off and discarded
equally concerns
all the night robbers.
Fire bells clanging, whiskers burnt,
something like reason
pressed on his back,
he runs home through naked noon,
then the one who catches up with him
must also be a night robber.
On occasion, supported by logic,
a night robber runs past
a night robber.
Something like an apple
that the night robber bites and tosses away,
something like a rope
that the night robber tears off and tosses away,
these things that concern
the morning of the momentary escape.
The boulevard like a cutting board,
washed by a shower,
is the distance to broad daylight.
