To the North and the East

H ENCE to your Æolian den,
Banish'd from the haunts of Men;
Piercing North and biting East ,
Never more to be releas'd!
Or, deliver'd from your cave,
Spare the Earth, and smite the Wave!

Genius of the Western gale,
Come with Health to cheer the Vale!
Soothe me to Elysian rest,
With poetic slumbers bless'd;
Visions that in Fancy's ray,
Turn the Winter into May .

Love to join thee may refuse,
Come with Friendship and the Muse;
Breathe on Life's departing scene
Airs inspiring, though serene!
Fan me with an eagle's wing,
Dipp'd in the Castalian spring.
