Pluck Not So Idly

Pluck not so idly at the strings, musician,
Pluck not so idly at the strings,
Jangling the summer quiet into discord ...
Alas! among bare boughs already winter sings!

Pluck not so idly at my heart, musician,
Pluck not so idly at my heart,
Jangling its summer quiet into discord ...
Alas! from anguished eyes the tears already start!
