R. F. C.

Come all you poor distressed people
And lend a willing ear to me;
Your suffering will soon be ended
For now we have the R.F.C.

Your Uncle Sam has heard your pleadings,
Your cry for aid has touched his heart.
He says, “Take courage, poor and needy,
The Government will do its part.”

“Come all you poor discouraged fathers,
And trembling mothers, do not fear;
Your little ones shall not go hungry,
For Federal Relief is here.

Your Uncle Sam will not stand idle,
And see you starve on Freedom's soil;
He will furnish work to all the needy
Where they can live by honest toil.”

We are so very proud and thankful
To know our children will be fed;
God pity all the jobless fathers
Who hear their children cry for bread.

For I was one among the number,
I know the heartache and the pain,
Of little children cold and hungry
Oh may it never be again.

I am glad to live in this grand country,
I am proud to call this land my home,
Where R.F.C. assists the needy
And helps us to protect our own.

Then come you glad and thankful people,
You helpless who have suffered long,
From every corner of the nation,
Come help me sing my little song.

The world looked very dark and dreary,
Along then came the R.F.C.
I am so glad to tell the story
What this grand plan has done for me.
