Recording My Happiness

I'm sound asleep, when a knock at the gate wakes me;
at midnight, they tell me I have a grandson!
The family books say his name should include " wood " ;
it might be wise to use a word like " root. "
Heaven must always have had this in mind;
how can I, a white-haired old man, ever forget this kindness?
In the morning, I get up, and watch the sun
rise in a clear sky;
the green of the southern mountains seems to reach my gate.
