Send From the South

Send from the South warm thoughts to me
From alleys closed by Summer sea
Whence the great Gulf its Stream puts forth
Laden with Summers for the North;
And for the sun a purple throne
From which he may with joy look down,
Bending beyond his cloudy towers,
On main and islands fringed with flowers.
Send from the South warm thoughts to melt
The frost that all the more is felt
The farther off from you am I;
So that I may for solace sing
And to my heart your Summer bring;
For those whom distance parts too long
The only medicine is Song.
