A Sensless Song with a Most Beautiful Melody

Twas on the 14th of February
The morning it being fair & clear
There I beheld a lofty Arbour
When I beheld it I soon drew near
Between two mountains there was a fountain
The clearest fountain I ever saw
I was informed by all the neighbours
The place was called sweet Legalaw

Most gentry take delight in hunting
From morn till night the fox & hare
& he that loves in the streams to angle
To this fair island let him draw near
There is fine hunting fishing & fowling
The bonniest roaches I ever saw
There is likwise both quail & partridge
In this fine Island called Leagaleawe

The Duck & Mallard is low desending
The fox & Eagle lies in the wood
Its pleasing bathing in a summers evening
Who can say but the place is good
In the island there is a building
Free from either crack or flaw
Protect us from your foriegn canting
Who came over here a plan to draw

For fishing fowling & for hunting
Here all that loves may pleasure take
& I among the happy number
Can still a better pleasure take
For there I saw while seeking pleasure
The fairest girl eyes ever saw
& I have won her hearts sweet treasure
That makes me love sweet Leegaleawe
