She Saw Me in Church

Go! little bill, and command me hertely
Unto her that I call my trulof and lady,
By this same tru tokeninge,
That sho see me in a kirk on a Friday in a morning,
With a sper-hawk on my hand,
And my mone did by her stand,
And an old womon sete her by,
That little cold of curtesy;
And oft on her sho did smile
To loke on me for a while.
And yet by this, another token,
To the kirk she comme with a gentilwomon:
Even behind the kirk dore
Thay kneled bothe on the flore,
And fast thay did pitter-patter —
I hope thay said matins togeder!
Yet ones or twyes, at the lest,
Sho did on me her ee kest,
Then went I forthe prevely
And hailsed on thaym curtesly.
By alle the tokens, truly,
Command me to her hertely!
