Song

The night-long shadows faded into grey,
Then silvered into glad and gold sunlight,
Because you came to me, like a new day
Born of the beauty of an autumn night.

The silence that enfolded me so long
Stirred to the sweetest music life has known,
Because you came, and coming woke the song
That slumbered through the years I was alone.

So have you brought the silver from the shade,
The music and the laughter and the day,
So have you come to me, and coming made
This life of mine a blossom-bordered way.
