A Sunday School Teacher Speaks

This child that God has given you
Is your special pride and joy,
And you would give your very life
For this precious girl or boy.

You teach him to be truthful —
To be honest, to be fair.
When his health or life's in danger
You're the very first to care.

Never would you dream of shirking
Your responsibility
In schooling or companionship
Or sports ability.

But what about his precious soul?
Do you care for it as much?
Do you teach him of the wonder
Of the Saviour's blessed touch?

Is this duty left to others
In an hour or two each week,
When it would be better daily
If his parent learned to speak?

If we all could work together —
Parents, teachers — with the Lord,
How those little souls would blossom
With the message of God's Word!

For the Word of God — the Bible —
Is your child's most precious tool.
Will you help him learn to use it
In your home and Sunday school?
