'Tis Hallowe'en and shut the book of parting

'Tis Hallowe'en and shut the book of parting;
Therein be peace until the dawn's upstarting!

O heart, in loverhood be steadfast footed;
For in this Way all work's reward imparting.

I will not turn from toping with repentance,
Though thou me plague with severance and thwarting.

Gone though my heart is, my love's face I see not;
Out on this cruelty, 'neath which I'm smarting!

Come forth, bright morn of hearts, by God His mercy!
For passing dark I see the night of parting.

Wilt thou be faithful, practise patience, Hafiz;
For loss and profit are in every marting.
