As the Tree Falleth

" Down in a pale plain dry as chaff
" Thou shalt come to a place called " Traitor's Staff" "

I went and found but a flowering tree
Round which the maids ran merrily.

" Down in the marsh that boulders bruise
Thou shalt come to the place called " Traitor's Shoes" "

I went and found two pools shine there
By rushes and lilies and fish made fair.

" Down in the valley where black clouds brood
Thou shalt come to the place called " Traitor's Blood" "

I came: the valley from tail to head
Like a sunset burned with roses red

" Whither, O wanderer, lies your goal? "
" I go to the place called " Traitor's Soul" "

" What will you find when you are there? "
" I shall find this too grown passing fair. "
