To the Tune "Spring in Tien Is Fine"

1

Spring in Tien is fine!
The splendid scenes entice the traveler.
Gather blue-greens in the eastern fields —
the wind blows languidly;
pluck fragrance at the southern shore —
the water ripples clear.
Could I ever forget the Tien spring!

2

Spring in Tien is fine!
The blossoms there all yield to the mandala tree.
Along the lake-fronts thousands
are reflected in the water;
west of the town, ten miles out,
heat bakes their colored mist.
Could I ever forget Tien flowers!

3

Spring in Tien is fine!
Blue-green sleeves gently brush the clouds.
Elegant, subtle — coiffures that should be painted;
melifluous southern accents
more beautiful than song.
Could I ever forget Tien women!

4

Spring in Tien is fine!
Most I remember the lakeside pavilion.
Fishing fires — night stars illuminating islands;
wine banners — windswept shadows rippling
the eastward flow.
Some day together we will come again.
