We had our Valentines cut full of hearts

We had our Valentines cut full of hearts
For youths an actor doing many parts
Pastime for pleasure more then love beguiles
& smiles like cyphers nothing mean but smiles
& though they speak fond words in various ways
Rank flatterys mouth neer shuts for want of praise
All the best flowers which we for beauty prize
Where likened to our cheeks & lips & eyes
Pinks roses & carnations not a few
& lilys white & violets darkly blue
All stood for beautys be we as we would
& worship came where maidens looks were good
But valentine now comes & goes away
With little notice as a common day
