We Would See Jesus

To see the Lord the shepherds
Were by the angel sent;
They spread the wondrous tidings
With joy where'er they went,
The Baby in a manger
Was God's own Son who came
To save from sin His people,
For Jesus was His name.

Some earnest Greeks years after
To His disciples came,
And said, “We would see Jesus,”
For they had heard His fame.
They listened to His message,
And saw His perfect grace;
They surely spread glad tidings
Of Him in every place.

And, like the Greeks and shepherds,
We would see Jesus, too,
And seek His grace to guide us
In all we say and do.
So let us come and worship
Our Saviour, Christ the Lord,
And, saved by His redemption,
We'll spread the news abroad.
