When the owl hoots

When the owl hoots,
atop yonder Worang Rock,
in the middle of each night:
“Those of old have said,
the young concubine who,
hateful and detestable,
becomes someone's paramour, and
lures him with her
cunning wiles, is cursed to
die a sudden death!”
The concubine replies,
“O honored wife, do not speak
such delirious words:
it's the old wife, who
mistreats her lord, and is
so very jealous of the
concubine, who dies first,
I've heard them say.”
