In wilful riches I have found poverty

CLXV

In wilful riches I have found poverty
And in great pleasure I lived in heaviness.
In too much freedom I lacked liberty.
Nothing but plenty caused my scarceness.
Thus was I both in joy and in distress.
And, in few words if I should be plain,
In a paradise I suffered all this pain.
