Classic Poem

Says William to Phyllis, " How came you here so soon? "
You seem for to ramble all in the month of June.
The birds were singing cheerfully, you sit you down by me
And talk about the tales of love, likewise the greenwood tree."

They both went together to sail the ocean wide,
William did his duty for Phyllis was his bride.
But mark the desolation, the winds began to blow,
The lightning flashed, the thunder roared, in flakes fell down the snow.

For three weeks on the ocean they were tossed up and down,
The ship has lost her anchor, the masts away were blown.
At length upon a dismal night they were cast upon the sands
In the coast of America, a kind and friendly land.

They met with kind assistance, it did their health restore,
Now they are united all on the peaceful shore.
They're happy in America all in prosperity,
The young Phyllis and William all from the greenwood tree.
