STAGES
In life, when young, one starts as an apprentice
Seeing some things from another’s point of view
About the wider world, learning a little more
But like a small boat, keeps close to the shore
Yet curiosity and motivation clearly to the fore
While getting a first real glimpse at what is true
But maintaining focus can say goodbye to bliss
Qualified, with proven skills, is a journeyman
Making real contribution to growing demand
Whether it is engineering, even creative stuff
And calling it done knowing when it’s enough
Yet, carrying the load of expectations is tough
Even mending clothes that need to be darned
Trying to enjoy some rest, whenever one can
When consulted for guidance, one is a master
A source of learning, expertise and reference
To acquiring new skills one may be a stranger
But new technology could be a gamechanger
And of losing one’s edge, there is the danger
One has earned respect and even deference
Despite the years of experience fading faster
