The Flood
Biblical like alluvion.
Raging like a thousand bulls,
on a mad dash downstream
devouring all in it's path.
Posiden's fluid matter
surges forward furiously
reclaiming the land
displacing 1/3rd of its inhabitants.
Fifteen thousand homes were swallowed,
engulfed by a superabundance of rain-
water. Memories quickly washed away,
like debris on a beach.
The Mississippi River ascended
the levees of Morganza Floodway.
Massively flowing across Ascension
Parrish. This can not be a coincidence.
Is it Déjà vu? Katrina part two?
How could this happen again?
Twenty thousand rescued, over ten-
thousand in shelters. Thirteen dead!
Who is to blame? Let the finger-
pointing begin.

Thank You for taking the time to read my poem. It was inspired by the flood that took place in Ascension Parrish, Louisiana a couple of months ago. I hope you enjoyed it.
