The flames have engulfed me
They incinerated the forest that I used to sightsee
My heart intertwined among the leaves
Our lungs , Gaia reaves
For we have done her wrong for so long
She said : "on this earth , you do not belong"
The Amazon sweltered
And amidst the flames, humanity faltered
20% gone and if nothing is done 80 to follow
For the money , they'll leave this earth hollow
They can't hear our cries or our sorrow
And continue to hunt an endangered sparrow
I beg of you to stand your ground
Until they can no longer be deaf to our sound
For this is our only earth
And without it , we're only dirt
They incinerated the forest that I used to sightsee
My heart intertwined among the leaves
Our lungs , Gaia reaves
For we have done her wrong for so long
She said : "on this earth , you do not belong"
The Amazon sweltered
And amidst the flames, humanity faltered
20% gone and if nothing is done 80 to follow
For the money , they'll leave this earth hollow
They can't hear our cries or our sorrow
And continue to hunt an endangered sparrow
I beg of you to stand your ground
Until they can no longer be deaf to our sound
For this is our only earth
And without it , we're only dirt

yassmine,
I love environmental poems, and your rainforest poem is 5-star with imagery and compassion. You're a gifted poet.
