At table I could not eat,
I drew my sword and hacked at a pillar
Heaving long sighs.
" How long does life drag on?
How long must I limp round
With folded wings? "
So I gave up my post,
Left office, went away,
Back to my family to rest
In the morning I bade farewell to my parents,
In the evening I was back with my family again.
I play with the baby romping in front of the cot,
I watch my wife as she sits and weaves at her loom
Since ancient times, wise men have been poor and unknown,
How much more so the lonely and honest men of today.
