The Space Roadster

Elon, you’ve lost one of your cherry cars.
We doubt you miss it, though, for Starman steers it,
piercing the emptiness en route to Mars
and the ring of rock and dust beyond. Who fears it,

the absolute of space? Not this fake pilot!
Its gaze is black as the gaps between the stars,
and yet the worlds and suns seem to beguile it.
Who would have thought that dummies in red cars

could zip into earth orbit and keep going?
They flabbergasted us, your booster rockets
which settled like a pair of sparrows (owing

Blackout

blackout
blinders on
observing microscopically
it's safe and comfortable
this minimal line of sight
don't have to see
the desperation of humanity's plight
should some agony come into view
a simple turn of the head
out of sight, out of mind

United

Where are you my friend?
Gone again, without a trace
This is becoming a trend
To evacuate this place
I worry for the future
As I sit alone once more
I want to recapture
And try to implore
My mind becomes numb
While I try to breathe
Look up at the sun
As I lie beneath
The sky is not falling
Nor the leaves on the tree
I am not crawling
As I fall to my knees
There is imminent light
Up ahead in plain view
Such a beautiful sight
As I always knew
I refuse to give up
Never reduced to a wraith
I drink from the cup

You're All I Ever Needed

I use to drink up all of our love
And get drunk in bed every night.
With you by my side,
I was at my best.

But out of the blue,
Our love turned into a full out war.
Laughter was soon tears
And you said you couldn't love me anymore.
You packed your bags and hit the door,
Leaving the last nine months behind you.

What could I say?
There’s nothing that would’ve changed your mind.
You were gone in a flash and just like that,
I’m left alone to think
About the best times,
About the worst times,
Everything we had.

Kitchen haiku

tender meat ruined,
steamed instead of fried –
cook’s profuse apologies

my egg peeled of dignity
piece by shattered piece,
hardboiled, life scooped out

leftovers of hearts
nourish the god of rupture
in a sunset shrine

on a window ledge,
celery and carrot tops
send out their new roots

the stale bread hardens,
we cannot even cut it –
it must be thrown out

empty pores of skin –
the years have sucked out their hope,
leaving dry decay

to make your fortune in fish,
rise when dawn is cast
and sharpen your knife

broken phrase

broken
phrase

I have a feeling inside but when I begin I just...
Maybe if I keep talking it will eventually...
What I mean to say is...
I... hurt.

And you did this.
But I'm not...
It's not that I want you to...
Please just listen.
Don't give up.
Don't... just don't.
Please.

You were always...
but not anymore, I guess.
Wasn't I there? Wasn't I here?
Why would you...

"You have to be brave.
You have to be strong.
You have to be there.
You..."

That's what you...
You said that to me!

When A President Speaks The Truth

When A President Speaks The Truth

By Ramona Thompson

Why do we scream and belittle him?
How can we stand united if we refuse to support the man we elected?
Every day the fake news poisons our minds is another we let a good man get torn down
No room here for cowards afraid to speak their own minds

A damn shame, just a damn shame

Tell that to your friends today bad mouthing America
Empty, mindless zombies are not who this nation was build for
Let that stick like glue in your mind
Let that be your new motto of truth
