REJECTION OVERCOME

by MaryPP

Like a sudden death announcement
Someone very close – myself?

Yes – but why?
A bit of my life disappearing
A very big bit
Too big for too long!
A quarter of a century

How?
The school house with 2 classrooms
My other home, my other children
So much of my efforts, thoughts and actions
New ideas, new plans – all for my work

Rejection, promotion not for me
Someone my daughter’s age instead
Time to move on
Turn rejection into rebirth

15 years on,
new life, new hopes
new faces, new places
Happiness again.

A poem of immense integrity, honesty and determination. A spirited statement expressed in stoic but also lyrical lines. I love the poetic question Someone very close-myself? and Turn rejection into rebirth. Congratulations MaryPP. Best wishes for contest. PS I hope you read my thumbs up on your previous entry HAIKU 8 Kind Regards MyNAh_27

Thank you Ryan. I was shattered at the time but had to keep on working with the new Principal. I was advised not to just run away. After retiring though it didn't take so long to realise there was another world outside teaching. Thanks again and best of luck to you too.
