I sit by the riverbank,
The waters clear and still,
Unruffled and unperturbed,
The sun going into its closet,
Cloaked by the clouds,
The trees swaying
to the gentle breeze,
I throw in a line,
I sit in wait for a catch,
The line becomes taut,
It moves in periodic motion,
Excited and expectant I pull,
It weighs a ton,
I pull with every
ounce of strength,
It comes out
partway the surface,
The line snaps,
It plunges back in
with a heavy thrust,
I narrated my encounter,
I told her how I earnestly
desired a big catch,
How luck smiled on me,
And I caught a submarine.
