Solitary Tear

Solitary Tear

Not a sound in the dark
except your breath and mine.
Two souls delicately waltzing,
the moment encapsulated
in heart beats and time.

My name etched on your chest
with a single fingertip.
Shut down my mind
and open my heart
so fear doesn’t make me trip.

This was not a one night stand
no…no ordinary, casual lust.
This was love making at its finest,
too profound and purposeful
to be called arbitrary or mere dumb luck.

I don’t want to own you
and you know you can’t own me.
But who cares since our
spirit nourishing liaison,
was never built on possession or primal need.

As I wrap my body around yours
I feel contented sleep creeping near.
I’m not sad I’m reverently euphoric,
expressed in the rainbow trail
of one
solitary
tear.
